Endovenous Laser Ablation or Therapy (EVLA/EVLT) is minimally invasive. It is able to be performed as a day procedure. Using a probe inserted into the vein, the local heating aims to damage to the vein wall. In order to protect surrounding tissues from heat damage, local anaesthetic mixed with saline is also injected around the vein (tumescent anaesthesia).
